Abstract

The culture of the Muslim community in Palangka Raya has its own perception to make it easier to determine halal food standards. This research is focused on consumer perceptions of the halal standardization of Muslim communities in Palangka Raya. This study aims to determine the perception of halal consumers in Muslim communities in Palangka Raya and to examine consumer behavior in Muslim communities in Palangka Raya in determining halal standardization. The sampling technique uses a purposive sampling technique. The subjects in this study were nine customers, three customers from three restaurants. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data validation technique uses observer persistence and source triangulation by collecting similar data and information from various existing sources. The results showed that the consumers' perceptions of the halal standardization of the Muslim community in Palangka Raya were: (1) Halal perceptions of consumers in Muslim communities in Palangka Raya can be said to be in accordance with the understanding of the concept of halal and the terms of halal food that have been established by Islamic law and ijtihad of Islamic scholars in categorizing halal food, namely such as substances, processing and sources. (2) The consumer behavior of the Muslim community in Palangka Raya in determining halal standardization is by looking at pictures of Islamic scholars, Arabic writing, or Islamic ornaments, which are culture and sub-culture, and are in accordance with the principles of the value of faith in Islamic consumer behavior.
