Abstract
Di era modern, olahraga tidak lagi hanya dipahami sebagai arena kompetitif, tetapi juga sebagai alat diplomasi strategis untuk memperkuat hubungan internasional dan mempromosikan budaya. Indonesia memanfaatkan Asian Games 2018 di Jakarta dan Palembang untuk menekankan peran diplomasi olahraga sebagai bagian dari strategi soft power, public diplomacy, dan middle power diplomacy. Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis diplomasi olahraga Indonesia dalam memperkuat nation branding dan middle power di asia serta menegaskan identitas budaya melalui Asian Games 2018. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka, yang memungkinkan analisis mendalam terhadap literatur akademis, laporan resmi, dan berbagai sumber sekunder yang relevan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Asian Games 2018 berhasil meningkatkan citra positif Indonesia, memperkenalkan kekayaan budayanya melalui seni pertunjukan dan olahraga tradisional, serta memperkuat posisinya sebagai middle power di kawasan Asia. Dengan demikian, Asian Games 2018 menegaskan bahwa olahraga dapat berfungsi sebagai instrumen penting dalam memperkuat diplomasi budaya dan hubungan internasional Indonesia, sekaligus memperkuat posisinya di panggung global. Namun, diplomasi olahraga memiliki keterbatasan, karena pengaruhnya cenderung temporer jika tidak didukung oleh strategi kebijakan luar negeri yang berkelanjutan.
