Abstract
analytes during sample storage. Samples are usually stored in the refrigerator (4 - 8°C) for short periods or in the freezer (-20°C) for longer periods. One of the reasons for the decrease in the stability of lyophilized universal control serum is the presence of a non-standard freezer in the laboratory, with an ideal temperature of -15°C. This study aimed to determine the effect of storing pooled sera as a substitute for commercial control materials which were stored in the freezer at around -15°C and in the refrigerator at around 4°C for 1 month with the test parameter, namely cholesterol. This study used an observational method without any treatment of the research variables. The samples in this study were pooled sera which were stored in the freezer and refrigerator at 0 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks based on the parameters for measuring cholesterol levels. The results showed that the average cholesterol level from Pooled Sera stored in the freezer was 157.75 mg/dL with a CV value of 3.0, and the average cholesterol level stored in the refrigerator was 152.75 mg/dL with a CV value of 2.1. The permissible CV value for cholesterol content is 6%, so that it can be concluded that the storage of pooled sera in the freezer and refrigerator on cholesterol parameters is still stable at 1 month of storage
