Hutan adalah ekosistem khas yang berbeda dengan ekosistem lainnya sehingga mampu memberikan nilai jasa ekosistem yang berbeda juga termasuk untuk kegiatan forest healing, suatu bentuk pemanfaatan hutan sebagai media untuk penyembuhan yang terkait dengan aspek fisiologis maupun mental. Kawasan Resort Selabintana dan Resort Situgunung Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Panngrango memiliki beragam potensi sumberdaya alam untuk kegiatan forest healing. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penelitian awal untuk mengetahui perubahan psikologi wisatawan setelah mengikuti kegiatan forest healing sebagai dasar pengembangan forest healing di kawasan ini. Penelitian dilaksakan pada bulan April-Mei 2022 terhadap responden sukarela sebanyak 30 orang untuk setiap resort. Responden diminta untuk mengikuti kegiatan forest healing kemudian diukur perubahan perasaan sebanyak 21 aspek melalui kuesioner dengan skala jawaban 1-4. Sebelas bentuk kegiatan menjadi pilihan ujicoba forest healing oleh responden, dengan pilihan paling banyak adalah berjalan di hutan diikuti mencium aroma hutan. Seluruh aspek perasaan yang diukur dinilai berubah oleh responden, baik bersifat positif maupun negatif. Satu aspek perasaan berubah secara positif menurut seluruh responden (kesehatan), sementara 20 perasaan lain dinilai secara positif maupun negatif oleh responden. Dua belas perasaan dinilai stabil atau tidak berubah dengan perasaan kesejahteraan dinilai paling banyak tidak berubah oleh responden. Perubahan perasaan positif paling tinggi adalah perasaan kesenangan (3,27), sementara perubahan secara negatif paling tinggi adalah kesedihan (2,27) yang bermakna mengurangi kesedihan.
