Main Article Content
Abstract
Proper medication management at home is essential for maintaining family health, but many people still lack understanding of how to store and dispose of medicines correctly. According to a survey, students at SMK Bina Dharma Pontianak have limited knowledge about this topic. This Community Service activity aims to increase students' knowledge of how to store and dispose of medicines correctly at SMK Bina Dharma Pontianak. This community service activity was conducted through interactive lectures and discussions, accompanied by the distribution of informative leaflets on proper medicine storage and safe disposal procedures. A total of 24 students participated in this activity, and questionnaires were used to measure participants' knowledge before and after the educational session. The results showed an increase in students' understanding, from 65.3% to 83.3%. Participants now understand the importance of maintaining proper temperature and humidity for storing medicines, as well as the correct procedures for disposing of expired medications. The success of this activity lies in its interactive educational methods and the use of visual media, which help students understand the information presented. This program not only increases short-term knowledge but also lays the foundation for more responsible drug management in the future. Continuing education and strengthening collaboration between schools and higher education institutions are crucial for expanding the program's positive impact.
