Main Article Content
Abstract
The issue of accumulated household and agricultural waste that has not been optimally managed in Gunung Ulin Village has led to environmental pollution risks and low productivity in the utilization of organic waste. This activity aims to improve the community’s understanding and technical skills in processing such waste by implementing the composting box method. The implementation stages include inter-institutional coordination and educational socialization regarding waste management using leaflets. The participatory practice of organic fertilizer production was conducted using a closed-container system with the assistance of Effective Microorganisms 4 (EM4) activator. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge to 90%, followed by successful compost production. The waste management success contributes strategically to the community’s self-sufficiency in providing plant nutrients from local organic materials. The implementation of this system demonstrates effectiveness in converting organic waste into eco-friendly fertilizer while potentially strengthening agricultural independence at the village level.
