Menjaga Ekologi Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Kahayan akibat Pertambangan Tanpa Izin (PETI) Maintaining the Ecology of the Kahayan River Basin (DAS) from Illegal Mining (PETI)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Illegal mining activities (PETI) in the Kahayan River Basin (DAS) have caused ecological degradation of the river, impacting environmental quality and the lives of the surrounding community. This community service program aims to increase community awareness and active participation in maintaining the ecology of the Kahayan Watershed through an educational and participatory approach. The implementation method uses a qualitative, participatory approach that integrates Participatory Action Research (PAR), Community-Based Research (CBR), and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD). Community service activities include identification and field observation, outreach, environmental education, community mentoring, and evaluation through joint reflection and focus group discussions. The results of the activity show an increase in community understanding and awareness regarding the impact of PETI on the river environment, as well as growing community participation in efforts to maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of the watershed. The novelty of this service lies in integrating a participatory approach with strengthening legal awareness and the internalization of Muhammadiyah religious values in maintaining the watershed's ecology. This service is expected to become a model of good practice in community-based watershed management to support environmental sustainability.
