Main Article Content
Abstract
The community service program in Desa Mekar Sari aimed to develop stingless bee cultivation, leveraging freshwater mangrove potential, as a strategy for village economic empowerment amid limited income and dependence on seasonal agriculture. The activities were implemented through a participatory approach, including training, colony provision, and mentoring for 30 residents managing 10 pilot colonies. The results showed improved technical capacity, the emergence of alternative income sources, and increased environmental conservation awareness. The business feasibility analysis reported annual revenue of IDR 18,000,000, costs of IDR 14,760,000, a net benefit of IDR 3,240,000, and a benefit-cost ratio of 1.2, indicating financial viability. The program also encouraged the establishment of a village business unit to ensure sustainable production and marketing. Overall, freshwater mangrove–based stingless bee cultivation proved effective as a sustainable model for local economic empowerment.
