Abstract

The use of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) at the community level remains largely limited to the sale of low-value raw materials. One potential commodity is nutmeg produced by the Wonoharjo Forest Farmer Group (KTH Wonoharjo) in Pujo Raharjo Village, Pesawaran Regency. This community service program aimed to develop value-added nutmeg-based products to empower the economic capacity of the forest farmer group by increasing product value, enhancing technical skills, and strengthening business institutions. The program was implemented using a participatory approach, encompassing stages of site surveys and potential identification, raw material collection, initial formulation of nutmeg candy products, technical training in processing and food safety, packaging and branding training, and the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production. The results demonstrated an improvement in community skills in processing nutmeg into candy products with acceptable taste and texture, the establishment of product identity through simple packaging and labeling, and the development of SOPs as guidelines for independent production. Therefore, the development of nutmeg-based processed products can serve as an effective strategy to strengthen the economic capacity of forest farmer groups by leveraging local potential.
