Pemahaman Peternak tentang Inbreeding: Studi Kasus pada Kelompok Peternak Manunggal Mandiri Batur, Banjarnegara Farmers’ Understanding of Inbreeding: A Case Study of the Manunggal Mandiri Sheep Farming Group in Batur, Banjarnegara
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Batur sheep, recognized as one of Indonesia's superior genetic resources (plasma nutfah), faces an increased risk of inbreeding, leading to inbreeding depression and negatively affecting productivity and the economic value of the animals. This community service program aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge of genetic management and inbreeding control through interactive, technology-based training covering topics such as breeding record-keeping, the impacts of inbreeding, and reproductive management. The results showed an improvement in farmers' understanding and adoption of better breeding practices. Continuous mentoring and multidisciplinary collaboration are recommended to ensure the sustainability of the Batur sheep genetic resources.
