Abstract
Child marriage remains a social problem in Indonesia to this day. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) show that Indonesia ranks among the top 10 countries with the highest rates of child marriage in the world. This situation underscores the need for educational and public awareness efforts to prevent and reduce child marriage, particularly in areas with high vulnerability. This community service project aims to improve public understanding and awareness of the dangers and negative impacts of child marriage through educational interventions using audiovisual media. This community service project was carried out in the village of Keliling Benteng Ulu, West Martapura Subdistrict, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province. The implementation method for this community service project was divided into three stages: (1) Identification and data collection on the problem; (2) Community education through outreach; and (3) Evaluation. A total of 29 participants in the community service program had previously undergone an assessment of their level of understanding regarding child marriage, with their understanding found to be lower prior to the video intervention on the dangers of child marriage. Based on the test results, the average level of participants’ understanding of child marriage on the pre-test was 3.6511, and on the post-test, it increased to 3.8621. Thus, it can be concluded that there was a significant increase in understanding following the educational media intervention, indicating that this method can be an effective approach to preventing child marriage at the community level.
