Peningkatan Pengetahuan Kader PKK Kecamatan Banyuresmi terkait Pengelolaan Obat Sisa Knowledge Improvement of Banyuresmi Village PKK Volunteer Regarding Unused Medicine Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
PKK cadres serve as the frontline in efforts to improve community health at the household level. One health issue that is often overlooked is the presence of leftover household medicines, which, if not managed properly, can pose various risks to both family health and environmental sustainability. Medicines that are stored for too long, used without supervision, or disposed of carelessly can cause poisoning, antibiotic resistance, and contamination of soil and water. Therefore, this community service activity aims to enhance PKK cadres' knowledge and awareness of the proper and safe management of leftover household medicines in Banyuresmi Village. The method employed was an educational approach through an interactive seminar, in which participants not only received material but also engaged in discussions and practiced identifying and handling leftover medicines. The training covered topics such as obtaining medicines responsibly, using them according to proper guidelines, storing them correctly to maintain stability, and safely disposing of medicines that are no longer suitable for use. An evaluation using pre-test and post-test questionnaires administered to 50 respondents showed a highly significant improvement in participants' understanding (p < 0.0001). Additionally, participants reported that the activity was beneficial, relevant to their daily needs, and increased their confidence in providing health education to the community.
