Main Article Content
Abstract
Umrah is a series of rites performed in worship of the holy city of Mecca. Manasik preparation is the best preparation. Umrah is also a means of communicating with foreign citizens engaged in the same activities. The density of activities carried out quickly requires optimal health conditions for prospective Umrah pilgrims. Community service activities, carried out in the form of early detection of prospective pilgrims' health, have been conducted to identify the various possible diseases they may experience. Other activities were English communication training and a demonstration of Manasik. The activities were carried out by conducting health checks consisting of blood pressure, uric acid, blood sugar, and cholesterol. The activities were attended by the majority of female pilgrims, with an average age of 40 years, a systolic blood pressure of 121.5 mmHg, and a diastolic blood pressure of 85.75 mmHg. Additional results from blood component examinations showed that the highest abnormal blood sugar value was 457 mg/dL. Participants' English-speaking ability is expected to increase after receiving intensive training before departure. Participants' knowledge of Umrah rituals is limited because they were not exposed to how to perform them in the appropriate sequence beforehand. Community service activities are considered to build knowledge of health issues, manasik, and English communication skills during travel. Further detection during worship activities, more intensive practice in speaking English, and repetition of manasic material will help prospective Umrah pilgrims be better prepared overall.
