Main Article Content
Abstract
Write about the Bakumpai District in Barito Kuala Regency, which has seen an increase in residential development, driving the need for skilled construction workers. However, most workers still rely on experience without adequate technical training, impacting the quality of work and occupational safety. This community service activity aims to improve the competence of construction carpenters and light steel roof frame installers through structured, practice-based training. The method used is an educational, participatory, and applied approach that includes preparation, delivery of theoretical material, field practice, occupational safety training, and evaluation. The activity was attended by 25 participants and was conducted over three days, focusing on improving technical skills and understanding of construction standards. The results of the activity showed a significant increase across all aspects of competence: construction understanding increased from 40% to 100%, technical skills reached 88%, and occupational safety awareness increased to 100%. Furthermore, the practice-based learning method proved effective in directly improving participants' skills and shaping more professional work behaviors. This activity also had a positive impact on the quality of construction work and the competitiveness of the local workforce, and contributed to community-based regional development. Thus, this training can be an effective and sustainable model for community empowerment to improve the quality of human resources in the construction sector.
