Penguatan Kesiapan Kerja Siswa SMK Melalui Pendampingan Literasi Keuangan dan Pencatatan Akuntansi Enhancing Vocational High School Students’ Employment Readiness Through Financial Literacy and Accounting Record-Keeping Mentoring
Main Article Content
Abstract
The partner's problem is the limited understanding among students of Vocational High School in managing personal finances and recording simple financial transactions, so that some graduates finish their studies without adequate practical financial skills to enter the workforce. Accounting instruction at school still tends to be theory-oriented, leaving students unfamiliar with recording cash transactions or preparing simple financial statements, and with a limited understanding of budget planning, saving habits, and pocket-money management. This service activity aims to provide financial literacy mentoring, along with basic accounting record-keeping, for vocational students so they are better prepared to enter the workforce. The method consisted of coordinating with the school, administering a pretest, conducting instruction in financial literacy and basic accounting concepts, mentoring participants in preparing a cash book and simple financial statements based on case studies, and administering a posttest to measure participants' improvement. The activity involved grade XI students majoring in Digital Business as participants, with the subject teacher serving as a mentoring partner. Results show an improvement in participants' understanding of financial literacy concepts and their ability in simple accounting record-keeping after the mentoring, as reflected in the comparison between pretest and posttest scores. This activity is expected to serve as a practical provision for vocational students in managing personal finances and supporting their readiness to enter employment or start an independent venture.
