Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) (J Surya Medika, ISSN: 2655-2051 (Online); 2460-7266 (Print)) is a national scientific journal managed by the Faculty of Health Science Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya and published three times a year (in April, August, and December) onward May 2022 by Institute for Research and Community Services Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya. Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) accepts scientific articles in the form of original research articles and reviews from anyone without any discrimination, as long as they submit articles that meet scientific principles.

Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) publishes various scientific articles covering Health Sciences, in the field but not limited to Pharmacology-Toxicology, Pharmacognosy-Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical, Analytical Pharmacy-Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Development, Clinical-Community Pharmacy, Management Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology-Parasitology, Hematology, and other General Medical Topics.

Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles published in the Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) are open access and free for access as stated on Budapest Open Access Initiative:

"By 'open access' to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be appropriately acknowledged and cited."

Editors accept submissions of the well-prepared manuscript that has not been published in other publications. The manuscript format and requirements are listed on the back cover page. Incoming manuscripts will be evaluated and edited to uniformity of structures, terms, and other writing procedures. All manuscripts will be reviewed by the double-blind method by our selective reviewer.

It was first published in 2015 using the Open Journal System (OJS) 3.1. Every year, the Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) publishes between 60 and 90 articles divided into three issues. Authors continue to retain the copyright to the article if the article is published in the Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM). They will also retain the publishing rights to the article without any restrictions. 

Jurnal Surya Medika (JSM) is accredited at "SINTA 4" until August 2025 by the Minister of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia.
