Pengembangan Produksi Pakan Ikan Hemat Biaya Berbasis Limbah Ikan Asin Lokal pada KUPS Perikanan Tanjung Sangalang Development of Low-Cost Fish Feed Production Based on Local Salted-Fish Waste at KUPS Perikanan Tanjung Sangalang
Main Article Content
Abstract
This community service program aims to restore and improve the productivity of Nile tilapia culture in KUPS by developing appropriate technology for low-cost fish feed production using local low-grade salted-fish waste. The proposed solutions include: training on feed formulation and production using waste materials, such as substandard salted fish, through simple approaches that the community can operate; feed trials to evaluate the growth performance of Nile tilapia; entrepreneurship mentoring; and guidance on small-scale feed business management. The community service method adopts a participatory Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, involving stages of partner needs assessment, technical training, production practice, business mentoring, and collaborative evaluation. The activity involves at least 10 active participants from KUPS. Expected outputs include the development of an alternative feed and the establishment of an independent community-based feed production unit. The results of this program showed that participants' initial understanding of using low-grade salted-fish waste as a raw material for fish feed remained low. However, participants demonstrated positive responses to the activities, from the delivery of the material to the hands-on feed production practice. Overall, the post-test results indicated an improvement in participants' knowledge and understanding regarding independent fish feed production using Low-Grade Salted Fish (IABS). With this solution, it is expected that sustainable fisheries productivity recovery can be achieved, along with enhanced community economic self-reliance based on local resources.
