Abstract
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infectious disease in which bacteria in the urine multiply to more than >100,000/ml. One method for diagnosing UTI is by conducting a urine sediment examination. The purpose of this study is to identify the elements found in the urine sediment of UTI patients and the number of UTI patients at RSI PKU Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya in the year 2025. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method. The sample consisted of 96 individuals, selected using purposive sampling technique, and the sample size was determined using the Slovin formula. The results of this study showed urine sediment findings as follows: leukocytes >4/HPF in 57 individuals (59.3%), erythrocytes >3/HPF in 45 individuals (40.7%), positive squamous epithelial cells in 96 individuals (100%), positive casts in 4 individuals (4%), positive crystals in 7 individuals (7.3%), positive fungi in 10 individuals (10%), and positive bacteria in 70 individuals (73%). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that most respondents experienced urinary sediment abnormalities, characterized by the findings of squamous epithelium in all respondents (100%), bacteria in 73%, leukocytes > 4 / LPK in 59.3%, and erythrocytes > 3 / LPK in 40.7%. In addition, the presence of fungi (10%), crystals (7.3%), and cylinders (4%) were also found, which overall indicate the possibility of urinary tract infection or disorders of the urinary system.
