To the Global Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Community,   The Borneo Journal of Pharmacy (Borneo J Pharm; eISSN: 2621-4814), published by the Department of Pharmacy at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya, formally invites distinguished researchers and academic leaders to join our Editorial Board and International Peer-Reviewer Panel. As we enter a strategic expansion phase, we are seeking dedicated partners to help guide the journal toward its next major milestone: indexing in the Web of Science (WoS).   In an increasingly commercialized publishing landscape, Borneo J Pharm remains committed to the Diamond Open Access model. Our journal is entirely free of charge for both authors and readers. We charge no Article Processing Charges (APCs), ensuring that high-quality research from around the world is disseminated based on scientific merit, rather than financial capacity.   Currently indexed in ScopusEMBASEDOAJDimensionsCASCABI, and SINTA 2, the journal has established a firm foundation of academic rigor. Our primary objective for the current year is to achieve indexing in the Web of Science - Emerging Sources Citation Index. To support this, we are refining our editorial team to include global experts who can provide the high-level oversight required for top-tier international indexing.   While covering the breadth of pharmaceutical sciences, our journal is uniquely positioned as the premier global platform for research related to Borneo Island (spanning Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam). We specifically invite experts in:
  1. Pharmacognosy & Natural Products: Biodiversity and Drug Discovery from Tropical Rainforest Isolates.
  2. Pharmacology & Clinical Pharmacy: Pharmacotherapy, patient care, and toxicological studies.
  3. Pharmaceutical Technology: Innovations in drug delivery systems and formulation science.
  4. Medicinal Chemistry: Molecular modeling, bioinformatics, and pharmaceutical analysis.
  5. Pharmacy Practice & Education: Pharmaceutical policy and community health dynamics.
These roles are voluntary, service-based positions designed for those who wish to influence the direction of pharmaceutical scholarship. In recognition of your leadership, we offer:
  1. Academic Visibility: Your profile will be featured prominently on our platform, associating your name with a high-growth, Scopus-indexed publication.
  2. Verifiable Service: We provide formal Certificates of Appointment and individualized Certificates of Appreciation for every manuscript handled—essential for tenure and promotion portfolios.
  3. Strategic Networking: Collaborate with a diverse international board to set the publication benchmarks for the region and the field.

Dear Contributors, Readers, and the Academic Community,

As the Borneo Journal of Pharmacy continues to grow in reach and impact, the Editorial Board remains committed to enhancing the quality of our editorial services and providing a more efficient platform for the dissemination of pharmaceutical research. To support these goals, we are pleased to announce two significant updates to our publication policy, effective from Volume 9, Issue 1 (2026).

First, the journal will be adjusting its quarterly publication schedule. To better optimize our peer-review workflows and ensure rigorous production standards, the release months for our four annual issues will shift. The current cycle of February, May, August, and November will transition to a new schedule of March, June, September, and December. This one-month adjustment is designed to provide our editorial team and reviewers with sufficient time to maintain the high standards of scholarly excellence that our readers expect.

Second, in response to the increasing volume of high-quality submissions from both domestic and international researchers, we are expanding our publication capacity. To reduce the "time-to-publication" for accepted manuscripts and to share more diverse research findings with the community, the number of articles per issue will be increased. Each quarterly issue will now feature 12 original research and review articles, an increase from the previous limit of 10.

These changes represent a strategic step forward in our mission to be a leading voice in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. We believe that by increasing our capacity and refining our schedule, we can better serve our authors and provide our readers with a more robust selection of scientific advancements.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our authors, reviewers, and readers for your continued trust and support of the Borneo Journal of Pharmacy. We look forward to receiving your future contributions under this new and expanded framework.

Sincerely,

The Editorial Board

ANNOUNCEMENT: Important Changes to Borneo Journal of Pharmacy's Aims & Scope – Focused on Borneo's Research Excellence

Dear Esteemed Authors, Reviewers, and Readers,

We are delighted to share the exciting news that the Borneo Journal of Pharmacy (Borneo J Pharm) has recently achieved a significant milestone by being officially indexed in Scopus! This prestigious recognition is a testament to the quality and relevance of the research we publish, and we are profoundly grateful for the contributions of our dedicated authors, diligent reviewers, and supportive readers.

In light of this achievement and our commitment to further elevate research from and about Borneo Island, we are announcing an important refinement to the Aims & Scope of the Borneo Journal of Pharmacy, effective June 1st, 2025, or starting from Volume 8 Issue 3 2025.

Moving forward, the Borneo Journal of Pharmacy will exclusively focus on publishing research from authors affiliated with institutions on the Borneo Islands (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam), and/or research predominantly conducted within the Borneo Island region.

This strategic shift aims to:

  • Strengthen the visibility and impact of research originating from Borneo.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers within the Borneo region.
  • Position Borneo Journal of Pharmacy as the leading platform for pharmaceutical research directly relevant to the unique context and challenges of Borneo.

Consequently, we regret to inform that, with the exception of collaborations as detailed below, we will no longer be able to accommodate new manuscript submissions from authors whose institutions are outside of Indonesia (in general) and, more specifically, outside of the Borneo Island region.

Exception for International Collaborations:

To continue promoting global scientific discourse while maintaining our core focus, we will consider manuscripts from authors outside the specified Borneo region only if the research involves a genuine and active collaboration with researchers affiliated with institutions on Borneo Island. This means the partnership should extend beyond joint authorship and involve substantive joint research efforts conducted by researchers from both parties. Evidence of such collaboration, including methodological contributions, data collection, or significant intellectual input from Borneo-based researchers, will be required.

We understand that this change may impact some of our previous contributors, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This decision has been made to better serve our mission and to maximize the regional and global impact of Borneo-focused pharmaceutical science.

We encourage all researchers from or collaborating with institutions on Borneo Island to continue submitting their high-quality work to us. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions as we embark on this exciting new phase.

For any inquiries regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to contact our editorial office at bjop@umpr.ac.id.

Sincerely,

The Editorial Board of Borneo Journal of Pharmacy
